principles of Pilates technique as a means toward achieving
better fitness and health. Presenting the how and
why (not just what) of classic Pilates matwork exercises,
Joseph's philosophy and context for creating his system

matwork.

- 15 different functional awareness, or "pre-pilates" exercises,
including proper breathing technique and stabilization
exercises
- Practical teaching experience utilizing the Pilates principles
as guide
- over 50 authentic Pilates exercises and four full routines
broken down by individual exercise and purpose
- Specific verbal cueing, teaching directives and observation
skills
- Detailed class formats for different levels of complete
hour-long matwork routines with original sequencing for
maximum efficiency and flow.
- Protocols and safety concerns for different populations
- How to incorporate accessible equipment, i.e. light dumbells,
small balls, foam blocks and Therabands into a mat class.
Through
lecture and practical experience, students will learn
how to teach the full progression from Beginner to Advanced
Intermediate Pilates Matwork exercises. Emphasis will
be on developing clear instructional cueing and mastery

INTRODUCTION TO YOGILATES PHILOSOPHY AND TECHNIQUE (15
to 20 hours)

and Pilates as interpreted by Yogilates founder Jonathan
Urla. Approaching physical and mental discipline as integral
to personal growth, students are encouraged to explore

study, and the potential for a higher spiritual state
that is inherent in all of us. Practicing meditation
