PILATES MAT INSTRUCTOR TRAINING CERTIFICATION COURSE
TWO WEEKENDS: MAY 12-14, 19-21
 
Learn to teach Pilates matwork exercises and give perfectly sequenced classes for all levels and abilities. This 30-hour teacher training course covers all the authentic classic exercises of Joseph Pilates, plus variations, with modifications and functional updates for safe and effective technique. Learn the why and how of this unique methodology and how to incorporate it for both private and group settings.
 
Fee: $800 
Course fee includes fully illustrated Pilates Matwork Teacher Training Manual. 
Previous fitness instruction or dance teaching experience recommended.

INTEGRATIVE PILATES MATWORK TEACHER TRAINING (30 hours over 2 weekends)
A unique in-depth course covering the history, philosophy, and guiding principles of traditional Pilates as presented by Joseph Pilates in his book “Contrology”, with specific focus on how to preserve the tradition while including the latest scientific knowledge of bio-mechanics and allowing for the natural evolution of the technique.  Beginning with defined anatomical references and optimal alignment principles, participants will learn how to create a practical, awareness-based approach to learning and practicing Pilates that provides a checklist of functional movements that guarantee a healthy, safe and effective workout for all levels and abilities.
Providing ample time for practical experience, this comprehensive workshop covers the full progression of beginner through advanced Pilates matwork exercises, including breathing technique, proper positioning, verbal cueing, common mistakes, and observation skills. Additional material covered includes protocols for special conditions, and how to incorporate accessible equipment, i.e. Magic Circles, light dumbbells, and foam yoga block. Instructors who pass this course receive a Certificate of Advanced Qualification in Pilates Matwork and may advance to the Yogilates Teacher Training.
Course fee includes the Pilates Matwork Teachers Manual, a $75 value.
This comprehensive teacher's manual contains the history, principles, anatomical references, functional awareness exercises, teaching directives, modifications and protocols, and fully illustrated exercise guides. Along with the NewYorkStyle Pilates videos, instructors will leave with the reference material they need to successfully and safely teach Pilates matwork. Marketing advice and direction on career positions as Pilates Matwork Instructors is also provided.
NOTE: A practical evaluation and a 50 question written exam will be given at the end of the course.
Pre-requisite: Fitness or movement teaching experience. Pilates experience.

PILATES BODY – YOGA MIND: An Introduction to Yogilates Workshop (10 hours over 2 days)
Learn the powerful, transformative practice of Yogilates from its creator, Jonathan Urla. Integrating spirit and function, Jonathan will demonstrate the synergy of hatha yoga and Pilates, and how optimal fitness of mind and body can be achieved by anyone, regardless of ability or age.
Beginning with awareness, we can recognize the inherent potential and wisdom of our body to change old habits and develop new abilities. Yogilates uses breathwork, visualizations, and universal principles of biomechanics to teach you how to tap into the "hidden powerhouse" of Pilates for greater control and strength in all activities, while simultaneously nurturing the "beginners mind" of yoga, as well as centering and grounding techniques. In this introductory workshop, we will utilize the yoga strap and block to improve mobility, flexibility, stability, and overall efficiency of movement. Informative and inspirational handouts for take home are provided, and ample time is allowed for questions and individual needs.
